How We Love Our Parents

We leave a list of disasters by the telephone

in case they call:

The sump pump broke.

The basement flooded.

The garage floor is cracked.

Our circular saw was stolen.

They respond with lots of oh-nos’

and oh for god’s sake.

It is how we make them happy.
